A. Ellen Reardon

A. Ellen Reardon passed away peacefully at home on April 27th, 2023, surrounded by her family, following a short yet fierce battle with cancer. Ellen was born on November 19th, 1946 in Stamford, Connecticut to the late William Herbert and Grace Montgomery. Ellen graduated from Rippowam High School in 1964. Ellen married the love of her life, Thomas Reardon, on February 25th, 1972. Together, they built a beautiful life with three children in Stamford, Connecticut.

While raising three young children, Ellen attended night classes at Norwalk Community College and pursued her dream of becoming a preschool teacher. Her dedication to her dream served as inspiration to all she touched. Ellen graduated with honors, earning her early childhood degree. Ellen went on to develop her dream of integrating nature and art with the education of young children. Ellen founded the Art, Nature and Me Preschool at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center, where she spent 30 years as the Head of Early Childhood Education. Ellen had a fondness for children and animals alike, and spent her career being of service to both. Ellen cherished nature for the discovery and growth that can be found anywhere you look.

Ellen’s favorite role in life was being a Nana and adored her grandchildren. She loved the time she spent sharing her love for animals and nature with them and could often be found touring them around the farm at the Nature Center.

Ellen is survived by her loving husband Thomas, children David Reardon, Timothy Reardon (Jessica), and Jessica Wieneke (Michael), and three grandchildren, Ella and Drew Reardon and Michael Wieneke. Ellen is also survived by a sister, Janet Bjork (Russell) of Beverly, Massachusetts and many loving sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Ellen is predeceased by her parents, her brother Bruce Montgomery, and her niece Lucienne Montgomery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, from 4pm – 8pm at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave, Stamford, CT 06902. A Celebration of Life will be on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at 10am at the St. Francis Episcopal Church, 2810 Long Ridge Rd, Stamford, CT 06903.

In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to be made to the Ellen Reardon Tribute Fund (see link below) at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center. This fund will help Ellen's legacy live on through teacher and student enrichment at the Art, Nature & Me Preschool, where Ellen devoted much of her professional life using nature to educate countless young children.
