Anna “New York” Dinella, 93 a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Anna was born on August 2, 1924 in New York. She was the daughter of Guiseppe Coviello and Angelina Zaccagnino Coviello. Anna graduated from Needle and Thread School in 1943 and started her career sewing award winning parachutes for the military. She then worked for National Biscuit Company and worked at Pitney Bowes for 27 years before retiring in September 1986. Once retired, Anna had more time for her true passion which was baking and cooking for family and friends. When she wasn’t busy in the kitchen she was watching her favorite soap opera and game shows. Anna was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Dinella and sister of the late Dominick Coviello. She is survived by her children, Lucille Spera of Old Saybrook, Vito Dinella and his wife Toniann of Stamford and Joseph Dinella Jr. and his wife Marcia of Stamford. She has four beautiful grandchildren, Stephanie (Dan) Cerretta, Vito Dinella Jr., Michael Spera (Heather Lassen) and Nicholas (Debbie) Spera, Her brother Sonny (Carolyn) Coviello and a sister Martha Ventura as well as two great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Anna will be sadly missed by her family, friends and extended Zezima family. Family and Friends may call at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue Stamford, CT on Friday, December 15th, from 4PM – 8PM. Funeral Mass is Saturday9AM at Sacred Heart Church with Interment to follow at St John’s Cemetery.
