ANTHONY LAWRENCE ZEZIMA, JR (ZEZ) – 67, a lifetime resident of Stamford, CT passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at Stamford Hospital on May 10th, 2023.  Anthony was born on August 20, 1955, in Stamford, CT. He was predeceased by his father, Anthony Zezima Sr., and brother Lawrence A. Zezima.


Anthony is survived by his greatest love of 44 years, wife Susan. Also survived by his mother, Marie Zezima. Siblings Donna Angotta (Tony), Toni Ann Dinella (Vito), Angela Dillalo (Dominick), Mary Barsch (Arthur), John Zezima, Vicki Zezima, Tom Zezima, Toni Libowitz, (Barry), Debbie O’Connor and sister-in-law Kim Zezima. Brothers-in-law Mickey DeVito (Diane), AJ DeVito, Billy DeVito (Krista), and sister-in-law Alison Magee. Anthony is also survived by countless nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts and cousins.


Anthony was a former house painter for 40 years. An avid golfer, he held the course record at Sterling Farms for many years. One of Anthony’s proudest endeavors was his 30 plus year role as an umpire for National Lione Little League. He also umpired many districts, sectional, and state games and umpired at Cooperstown Dream Park. Anthony became an Assistant District Administrator and won Volunteer of the Year award. He was one of the original founders of the Stamford Youth Umpires Annual Toy Drive to benefit the Stamford Hospital Pediatric Ward and supported the yearly Fight for Two Cancer Baseball Event.

Anthony cherished his Saturday night dinners with his family and friends and his vacations with Susan. He had a great appreciation for fine wine, watching the cooking shows, sports and music. He was a history buff and loved following the stock market.


Our family extends our gratitude to Dr. Diteodoro, Dr Lo, the staff at Bennett Cancer Center, and staff and nurses at Stamford Hospital. A special thank you to his nurses – Christie, Jess, Karen and Koren.



Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 12th, 2023 from 4PM to 8PM at the Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 9:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to The David Russo Cancer Foundation, 50 Spruce Street, Stratford, CT 06615 or at www.davidrussofund.org.  To leave an online condolence please visit www.lacerenzafh.com
