Ann L. Sansone, 96, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2024, at her home in Stamford, Connecticut.

Ann is survived by her sons William (Bill) of Stamford and Robert (Bob) and his wife Wendy, of Harpswell, Maine; and her six grandchildren: Lindsay Wilson, Bill Wilson, Bobby Sansone (Marcy), Kevin Sansone (Anne), Alexa Sansone Rouleau (Zach) and Mary Sansone Knechtle (Ian): and six great grandchildren; Cate, Dylan, Brody, Macyn, Piper and Emma with number seven due in April. She was pre-deceased by Rocco, her loving husband of over 70 years and her beloved daughter Laura.

Ann was born on June 13, 1927 in Stamford, Connecticut, to parents Achille and Loretta Antenucci Vitti. She graduated from Stamford High School in 1945 and began a career in the insurance business. She was introduced to Rocco by her friend, also named Ann, and they were married in 1947. Her first priority was raising her three children but she later returned to insurance where she worked until her retirement in 1990.

Ann (known as Annie) and Rocco loved to spend summers in their cottage on Cape Cod with their children, grandchildren and extended family. She enjoyed hosting large family gatherings at holidays and there was always room for more at the table. Her grandchildren affectionately called her “Mema” and she had a special bond with each of them. She also enjoyed her flower garden and playing cards with friends. Ann and Rocco were very active with St. Gabriel’s Church for decades.

Ann suffered from dementia and as it progressed in her later years she was lovingly cared for by her son Bill. His incredible dedication, patience and devotion never wavered.

Services will be held on Thursday February 1. The viewing at Lacerenza Macari Funeral Home will begin at 9:30am followed by funeral mass at 11:00am in St. Gabriel’s Church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate our dear Mema’s life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Josephine and John Marr Alzheimer’s Research Fund.
