Carmela “Chickie” Pavia, 95, lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away Friday, March 15, as she wanted in her favorite chair at home.
Chickie was born July 26,1928 to Anthony and Assunta (Sue Rosati) D’Andrea. Graduate of Stamford High School and worked for the Telephone Phone Company till she married her husband, Nicholas Pavia. Their 10 year love affair blessed them with 6 children before tragically Nick fell ill and passed away in 1963. She suddenly found herself a single mother but rose above heartbreak as she relied on her strong faith in God and her family and friends.
Chickie was blessed with incredible strength and resilience. She lived a full life, pouring out her love with her unique personality. Warm, joyful with a natural ability to make you feel special and unique. She lived in her home on the corner for 66 years. It was always decorated to the 9’s for every holiday, season, and occasion. Chickie’s door was always open, and the front porch was THE place you wanted to be.
Chickie is survived by her sister MaryLouise DuLemba (Edward) of Stamford, her children Christopher (Margaret), Rev. Nicholas, Stephen (Maria) and daughter-in-law Kathy Pavia all of Stamford, Peter (Naomi) of Thousand Oaks CA. Her grandchildren Logan (Amy), David (Katie), Andrew (Christina), Stephen (AshleyBrooke), Thomas, Megan (Frank Cogliano), Michael, Natalie, Katlyn. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Nicholas P. Pavia, children Thomas and Andrea, brothers Anthony (Junie) and Rocco D’Andrea.
Family and Friends will be received on Friday, March 22nd from 4-8pm at Lacerenza Macari Family Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford CT. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 23rd at 10am at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. Burial will immediately follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien CT.
