Carmela Cardillo passed away on August 17, 2024, at The Villa at Stamford Nursing Home.
Born on December 11, 1929, in St. Angelo-Engrotto, Campo Bosso, Italy, the daughter of Nichola Bertone and Adolorata Vendetti Bertone.
She is survived by her nieces and nephew, Joanne (Rocco) DiPreta, Joseph Cardillo, Marie Ely of Conneaut, Ohio, Oliana Casale of Roccasecca, Lazio, Italy, and Louis D’Aniello of Scauri, Italy and several great nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her loving husband, Pasquale Cardillo, her sister, Jennie Zappitelli, and nephew, Nicholas Zappitelli.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a special and beautiful woman whose legacy will live on forever.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Lacerenza Macari Family Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT. A funeral mass will follow at Sacred Heart Church at 11:00 a.m. with burial at St. John Cemetery, 25 Camp Ave, Darien, CT.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart Church. A special thank you to all the staff at The Villa at Stamford Nursing Home and Maplewood at Strawberry Hill in Norwalk for taking such good care of her.
