Carol C. Sabia, age 89, a lifelong Stamford resident passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. Born May 30, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Sophie Cotrone. She is predeceased by her devoted husband Michael R. Sabia Sr. of 56 years and her siblings. She is survived by her beloved children Michael R. Sabia Jr. and his wife Shaun Sabia of Tucson, AZ, Susan Sabia of Stamford, Martha Coughlan and her husband Dr. Tom Coughlan of Stamford; her loving grandchildren Ashley (Chance) Leslie, Dr. Lauren (Dr. Richard) Brooks, Dr. Brooke Sabia and Thomas (Rebecca) Coughlan, Alexandra (Sean) Cahill, and Elizabeth Coughlan; her loving great-grandchildren Greyson and Madison Leslie, Luca and Sienna Brooks and Odesseus Coughlan. Mrs. Sabia was a graduate of Stamford High, class of 1949. She and her husband owned and operated Sabia’s Open Door Restaurant on the West Side of Stamford for 25 years. She was an avid golfer, card player, casino-goer and dedicated New York Yankee fan. She enjoyed spending the winter months in Tucson. She will always be remembered as an adoring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. At her request, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
