Cecelia F. Uva, born 3/16/1932 in Stamford to Marie and Vincenzo Fragomeli (Fabrizia
Italy) and passed peacefully on 9/15/2022. It is with the utmost respect that we lay our
Beloved Ceil to rest after a lifetime of loving service to our family. Ceil adored the restaurant business that she was born into (Dixie Bar & Grill) and married her beloved high school sweetheart Tommy Uva in 1951 whose family owned the Midway Diner and several pizzerias in Stratford, Bridgeport, and Mystic.
She also was an owner of the Crow’s Nest nightclub in the early 1970’s where so many happy people gathered for a fun evening of cocktails, singing and dancing. As the Head of her family since 1968 when her husband Tommy tragically perished in a plane crash, Ceil carried her family gallantly through the years with faith and honor.
A true warrior in times of need, she was always “on the mark” with her innate common
sense and justice. Her Sunday Macaroni Dinners encouraged her opinions as she made
sense out of this crazy world for all of us! We will miss our ‘Beacon of Light’ but will carry on her deep sense of commitment and loyalty to the family that she created and thank her for the strength she instilled in all of us. Mom, Nanny, Sis, Aunt Ceil, we will have you in our hearts forever with both love and respect for all that you accomplished in the family you created, we all love you.
