On a rainy day, on the morning of April 23,2023 at approximately 10:45 am, Cislyn May Foster, 87, of Stamford Connecticut took her last breath and passed away peacefully.

She was born January 29, 1936, in Tangle River, Jamaica West Indies, the first child and the eldest daughter of the late Elizabeth Reid and Luther Foster. Tangle River, in the beautiful mountains, is where she developed her passion for gardening. She spent long hours in the garden planting various fruits and flowers. This passion she would share with her late mother Elizabeth.

Cislyn graduated from elementary school in Tangle River, and relocated to Montego Bay, where she continued her education in Domestic Science, Dressmaking and Fashion Design. Her love of fashion led her to create designs from memory, storing them away for future use. She became one of the most sought-after designers in Montego Bay, creating nursing uniforms, formal and informal designs and wedding dresses for many boutiques and local customers. She was an amazing cook as well, skills she learned and developed from her mother.

Cislyn immigrated to United States, January 1982 and settled in Stamford, CT. She continued her career as a dressmaker but transitioned primarily into a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked at both, nursing homes and the personal homes of her patients, a career which spanned 30 years. Her training became important personally for her and our family when she assumed the role of primary care giver for her mother in the final stages of her life.

Cislyn was the mother of six children and has left behind four children: Vernal Clifford Lyle (Claudia Hyde-Lyle), Allan Wayne Lyle, Joan Lyle-Snell (William Snell, Jr.), and Robert Gary Blake. Fitzroy Lyle and Dave Lyle preceded her. She also leaves behind Joy Robinson -Peddie, whom she raised since her teenage years in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Also left behind, her two siblings Mortimer (Bill) Foster and Yvonne McClain, her sibling Gloria Bailey preceded her as well. Also left behind are 20 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cislyn was a caring, compassionate, selfless, and giving human being. She was passionate about being of service to the Lord and was an active member of the North Stamford Seventh Day Adventist Church. She also was a long-time donor to many children’s charities throughout the world.

She is now asleep waiting for the “Great Getting Up Morning,” when she will hear the words: “Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant.”
