Constance Mecca, 88, a lifelong resident of Stamford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital on Friday, January 5, 2023, of acute congestive heart failure, with her son by her side.

Born in Stamford on June 10, 1935, Connie was the daughter of the late Antonio and Rose DeNocenzo. A 1953 graduate of Stamford High School, Connie was a retired secretary who had worked in many Stamford businesses, including Schick, the Stamford Town Clerk's Office, the office of Dr. Peter LaForte, the Olin Corporation, and the Sheraton Hotel on Summer Street, rising to the position of Executive Secretary at the Sheraton for several years prior to her retirement. She received many awards and accolades throughout her career.

Connie married Nicholas Mecca in 1960, and they enjoyed 46 years together, until Nick’s passing in 2006. Connie was also the loving and devoted mother of their son, Daniel Mecca.

Connie was an excellent cook and homemaker, and prepared many delicious and memorable meals, particularly on holidays. From home-baked breads at Easter, to Linguine with Lobster Tails as part of the traditional Italian Christmas Eve Fish Dinner, and the very popular Salmon Appetizer she would regularly prepare, Connie always set a great table.

Connie especially enjoyed traveling with her family to many destinations over the years, most frequently to Bolton Landing on Lake George, NY, North Conway and Jackson, NH, and Cape Cod, MA, where they became regular visitors for nearly 40 years, and made many friends in those communities. At Christmas time, the family home was well-decorated with many items collected during these travels.

After residing on Loughran Avenue in Stamford for over 50 years, Connie spent her remaining years at Civita Long Ridge Post Acute Care.

In addition to her son, Dan Mecca, Connie is survived by her sister Norma Boyle, her nieces Maureen Meehan and Marlene Boyle, grand-nieces Lisa Guerrero, Kristen Comeau, and Kelly Rose Vagueiro, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, Antonio and Rose DeNocenzo, and her husband, Nicholas Mecca, Connie was predeceased by her brother, Glenn DeNocenzo, her sister, Julia Cofone, and her niece, Linda LaFortune.

The family would like to thank the staff of Civita Long Ridge Post Acute Care of Stamford for the care and comfort they provided to Connie in her final years.
