Dominick (Donnie) Guglielmo, age 68 of Darien, CT passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 18, 2021. He was born in Stamford on July 18, 1953. He was predeceased by his mother Antoinette (Dolly), father Peter (also known as Pete Williams), younger sister JoAnn Powers, and nephew Peter O’Rourke. Dominick is survived by what he would say is his exceptional wife of 44 years, MaryAnn (Cacciotti), who attended to him with love and devotion throughout his illnesses; his beloved sons Dane and Christian; his much-loved pet and best friend Lyla; sisters Annette Lamberson (Gary) and Rosemarie Trofa (Florindo) both of Fairfield; brother Peter Guglielmo of Ridgefield; brother-in-law Michael Powers of Norwalk; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He graduated from Rippowam High School in Stamford and from the University of Connecticut, earning a B.S. in Business Administration. Dominick loved sports and was a life-long NY Yankees fan, an avid supporter and dedicated fan of UConn Huskies basketball, and a loyal follower of NY Giants football. Collecting baseball cards and other sports memorabilia were his favorite hobbies; one of the highlights of his life was having dinner with Hank Aaron who was the main attraction for a sports memorabilia show he organized. Besides sports, Dominick loved and enjoyed listening to music. He was very knowledgeable about all genres of music and attended many concerts with MaryAnn, family and friends. One of his fondest concert memories was a surprise stage appearance by John Lennon at an Elton John concert. Dominick also enjoyed the ocean and cherished the many memories of vacationing with his wife and children. As his body grew frail, Dominick’s inner strength shone through more clearly. A juvenile diabetic, Dominick would often be at gatherings with family and friends who had no dietary restrictions and could eat their fill of cake and ice cream and other sweets. Dominick would take a teaspoon or two of a favorite dessert and leave it at that. As a child and later as an adult, Dominick never complained or felt sorry for himself or made anyone else feel guilty for enjoying what he could not have. There was so much that he could not have, but he went out of his way to make sure that other’s needs and wants were met. Dominick’s greatest strength is that he was a forgiving person. Dominick will be forever missed and will live in our hearts with love until we meet again. Calling hours will be Monday, November 29 at Lacerenza Funeral Home 8 Schuyler Ave. Stamford, CT from 9:00am - 10:30am. A mass of Christian Burial will be the same day at Sacred Heart Church 37 Schuyler Ave. Stamford, CT at 11:00am. The family respectfully request masks be worn. Interment will take place in private.
