Duilio DeBlasi, 98, longtime resident of Stamford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on February 21st, 2023 in Rochester, Michigan. He was born on November 6, 1924 in San Mango sul Calore, Italy, the son of the late Salvatore DeBlasi and the late Grazie (Maria) DeBlasi.
Duilio was predeceased by his loving wife, Elvira DeBlasi (née Coppola) and his brother Joseph DeBlasi. He is survived by his children, Dora Hyduk, Salvatore (Marina), Mary Graham (the late Bruce), and Ugo (Diane), his grandchildren, Heather, Salvatore Jr, Bryan, Marc, Anthony, Thomas, Kristina, Amanda, and Nicole. He is also survived by his sisters Elena Boccuzzi and Joann Gerace and eight great-grandchildren.
He served in the Italian Army during WWII, where he survived imprisonment in a German slave work camp. He later served as part of the Italian Border Patrol in the Italian Alps.
Duilio was a self-employed businessman who owned a tailoring and dry-cleaning business for over 30 years in Stamford, Connecticut. He enjoyed gardening, winemaking, and spending time with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church in Stamford, Connecticut.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday March 4th at 10 AM. Burial will take place following mass, at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Stamford, CT.
