Elizabeth Ann (Sabia) Faugno, age 89, passed away on January 25, 2022 with her 3 children by her side. Liz was born in Stamford, CT on October 27,1932. As a teen, she was devoted to and cared for her mother, Maria Giovanna (Summa) who died at a young age. She and her father John Sabia, along with her brothers Pete and Tony, were a close knit family who benefitted from a vibrant support system of family and friends in their neighborhood on Stamford’s West Side. Elizabeth was a graduate of Stamford High School where she made lifelong friendships. In her early years, she developed an interest in sewing. A proud accomplishment was sewing a First Communion dress for her niece! Interested in helping others, Liz volunteered as a hospital candy striper and later with the visiting nurses. She was proud of her work as an orthodontic assistant. Later, Liz took advantage of other employment opportunities while raising her family. Liz married her sweetheart Ted at Sacred Heart Church on May 7,1955. They were blessed with over 63 years together before he passed away in 2019. Together with Ted, Liz enjoyed events of all kinds with their grandchildren. Grandma loved helping to plan a celebration and she was known for her delicious Italian cooking! As loving young adults, her grandchildren continued to bring her great joy in her later years. In addition to cooking, Liz enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and watching the news. She had many spirited discussions with family on current events. She proudly fulfilled her civic duty to vote. Liz was a lifelong fan of Frank Sinatra. She and Ted also loved to listen to a radio broadcast of Italian music on Sunday mornings. They were longtime members of St. Clement Parish. Elizabeth is survived by her children Joanne Faugno and husband Jay Fusci of Norwalk, Ralph Faugno and wife Denise, Ted Faugno and wife Anne; her beloved grandchildren Andrew, David, Daniel Faugno-Fusci, Jackie(Sean) Smith, Michael Faugno, Nicole(Ray) Granata, Katie, Teddy Faugno, and her great grandchild Mason Granata! Liz lovingly welcomed Nikki and her children Ari and Sophia into the family. Liz’s brother Tony Sabia and wife Barbara, brother-in-law Ralph Faugno and wife Filomena also survive her. Elizabeth is blessed with loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends may call at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave, Stamford, CT on Tues. Feb 1, 5-7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wed. Feb 2, 2022 at 10:30 am, St. Clement Church, 535 Fairfield Ave, Stamford, CT. Interment will follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery, Darien CT.
