Joseph Michael Sapia, age 76, a resident of Norwalk, CT, passed away suddenly on February 13th, 2024.
Joe is predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Yolanda (Boccuzzi) Sapia. He is survived by his two cherished sons, Michael (Erin) Sapia and James (Jessica) Sapia, his four beloved grandchildren, Declan, Parker, Caden, and Liam, and his sister Carol Pisciotta. He is also survived by his nephews, niece, cousins, and friends. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who touched the lives of many with his modest and generous spirit. Family was always his top priority and all who knew him will miss him dearly.
Joe was born in Stamford, CT on October 13, 1947, the son of the late Joseph and Mary Sapia. He graduated from Rippowam High School in 1965. Joe worked a variety of jobs throughout his career but was always an engineer at his core for companies such as Pepsi and Land Tech Consultants. Joe’s happiest moments were those shared with his family. He was a devout UConn Huskies fan and also enjoyed watching the New York Yankees with his wife. Joe regularly participated in softball and bowling for many years, as well as coaching Michael and Jimmy in a variety of sports. He had a deep passion for New Haven pizza and family pizza trips were a favorite pastime. He was actively attending church at St. Jerome’s Parish. Joe loved nothing more than spending time with his family and was most proud of the life he built together with Yolanda. He adored his four grandsons and found great joy in spoiling them. They were the light of his life. Joe carried himself with dignity and will always be remembered for his genuine spirit and someone who put others first. He left a long lasting impression on all that met him.
Joe’s calling hours will be Monday Feb 19, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Feb 20, 2024, at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue in Stamford, CT at 10 am. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien, CT.
