Joseph Zarrella

Giuseppe (Joseph) Zarrella, age 95 of Stamford, CT passed away peacefully November 9th, 2022 at Stamford Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Joseph was born in Poppano, Italy, January 2nd,1927. He was the son of the late Salvatore Zarrella and Concetta Coppola. He was the husband of Elena Zarrella and the late Jennie Coppola, who passed away in January 1971. Joseph was a dedicated employee to Pitney Bowes for more than 23 years. After work, he would take up his landscaping business. He was an avid gardener who took so much joy in growing his tomato plants and making sauce annually. Joseph would be in competition with his son on who would make the better wine. With his daughters, he enjoyed occasional trips to Copake, NY where they would go apple picking and spend time with all of the grand and great-grandchildren. Most of all, Joseph loved being surrounded by his family and friends, playing cards with his sisters and reminiscing about his “good times” in "Bella Roma".

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his sister Maria R Zucaro, Elisa Coppola of San Mango, his brother Michele Zarrella of Argentina and grandson Joseph Petruzziello. Joseph is survived by his loving wife Elena Zarrella, his daughters Congetta Lanni and Marie Petruzziello, and his son Salvatore Zarrella. His sister-in-law Angelina Zarrella, son-in-law Peter Lanni and Carlo Petruzziello and daughter-in-law Rebecca Zarrella. His sisters Giaconda DiLorenzo and Assunta Zucaro. In addition, Joseph is survived by his grandchildren Joanna Ciardulli, Teddy Petruzziello, Christine Bartlett, Carla Lavoie, Elena Petruzziello, Ashley Zarrella, Joanna Petruzziello and Marcel Zarrella. As well as his 7 great-grandchildren Olivia Ciardulli, Jake Bartlett, Vinny Ciardulli, Addison Bartlett, Izabella Petruzziello, Luke Ciardulli, and Christoper Petruzziello.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 15th at 10:00 am at Sacred Heart Church, Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT with entombment in Saint John's Catholic Cemetery.
