Josephine “Chickie” Rosa, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to many, passed peacefully at Waveny Care Center on January 28, 2025. She was born April 12, 1934 in Stamford, CT, daughter of the late James and Anna Sabato. Chickie enjoyed family life with her parents and brothers, Austin and Joseph. At the age of sixteen, Josephine met the man who would become her soulmate for the next 74 years, Edward Rosa.

Ed and Chickie became high school sweethearts and were married in 1957. They spent the first few years of their marriage at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX where Ed was serving in the Army. Upon completion of his service, they returned to Stamford. 

Chickie and Ed did everything together, traveling around the country and abroad. She could light up any room with her smile and laughter. She enjoyed time with her many friends, the neighborhood Stitch & Bitch club and the memories she created along the way. She treasured family gatherings, always finding joy in the time spent with loved ones, but her most cherished moments were with her husband, children, and grandchildren. 

 She is survived by husband Edward Rosa, her daughters Marcelle Whitney and her husband Kevin of Southbury, Janice Lindwall and her husband Chis of Trumbull.

her brother Joseph Sabato, and his wife Madeline of Stamford, her sister-in-law Anita Sabato of Milford, 4 cherished grandchildren Brian Whitney and his wife Brooke, Katie Whitney, Justin Lindwall, Julia Lindwall, a great granddaughter Morgan Whitney and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She predeceased by her brother, Austin Sabato. 

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 9:30-11:00am at Lacerenza Macari Family Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT. A funeral mass will follow at 11:30am at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT. Burial will immediately follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien, CT.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the private aides who provided support, comfort, and care to Josephine over the last several years: Princess, Irene, Hannah and Charity. They would also like to extend many thanks to the staff of Waveny Care Center.
