Juanita Torres Buzzeo, a cherished resident of Stamford, Connecticut for over 66 years, peacefully passed away on April 11, 2024. Born on June 24, 1934, in Pomona, California, to Rodrigo and Eleadora Torres, she was one of eleven beloved siblings.

In the serendipity of life, Juanita met her beloved husband, Alphonse “Sonny,” in Pomona, where they fell deeply in love and exchanged vows on July 6, 1957. Leaving behind the west coast, she embarked on a journey across the country to Stamford, Connecticut, Sonny's hometown, to begin their life together. Their union soon blossomed into a beautiful family.

Juanita, though petite in stature, possessed a mighty strength of character. With her sharp wit, diligent work ethic, and boundless energy, she approached life's challenges fearlessly. A natural leader, she excelled in every task she undertook. Juanita's passion for sewing led to the creation of countless beautiful pieces from her extensive collection of patterns. Her culinary skills were legendary, especially her renowned "strawberry shortcake." She found solace and joy in nurturing her yard and tending to her vibrant flower gardens. A frequent visitor to Costco, Home Depot, and Walmart, she adored the simple pleasures of shopping and dining out for lunch.

Above all, Juanita treasured her family and friends, always willing to go above and beyond to support and care for them. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren, whom she adored and took immense pride in. Her genuine interest in others was evident in every conversation, as she eagerly shared her life experiences while attentively listening to others'.

For over four decades, Juanita dedicated herself to caring for the homes and children of numerous families in the community, becoming an integral part of their lives. Despite her strong will and independence, she remained humble and selflessly devoted to others, guided by her unwavering faith.

Juanita was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alphonse "Sonny," her parents Eleadora and Rodrigo, and her siblings Daniel, Alejandro, Tony, Frankie, Joey, Johnny, Pauline, and Jenny, as well as her brother-in-law Ralph "Luxie" Buzzeo.

She is survived by her sons Alphonse (Liz), Robert, and Michael, her cherished grandchildren Allison, Matthew, Savannah, and Cheyenne, her siblings Mary (Bill) and David (Grace), sisters-in-laws Sylvana (Vinny), Adeline (Peter), Rosie Buzzeo, several cousins, nieces, nephews, her “bonus” son Dominick Bria and a multitude of friends.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Lacerenza Macari Family Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue in Stamford, CT, followed by burial at Fairfield Memorial Cemetery, 230 Oaklawn Avenue, Stamford.

Juanita's memory will forever reside in our hearts, her absence deeply felt but her spirit enduring.
