Leopold “Bo” Spignesi, 89, a resident of Naples, FL, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2022 at Vitas Healthcare, Naples, FL, after a brief illness. Leo was born on May 18, 1932 in Stamford, CT, the son of the late Leopoldo and Madeline (Verderosa) Spignesi. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from 1951-1955. Leo was a finishing carpenter and a true artist in woodworking as was evident in the many pieces of fine furniture he created. He enjoyed golf, fishing, and hunting trips in Maine. Making people laugh was something he made sure to do every day of his life. He was also a former member of the Special Police Force in Stamford, CT. Leo is survived by his loving daughter, Ann LoBosco and her husband, Doug Kissack of Newtown, CT; his son, John Spignesi of Cape Coral, FL; his brother, Charles Spignesi and sister, Ann Cece both of Naples, FL; sister-in-law, Bea Centonze of Stamford, CT; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was the proud grandfather of Charles LoBosco of Stamford, CT and Michael LoBosco and his wife, Molly of Southbury, CT. He also leaves behind his cherished dog, Barney, who was lovingly adopted into a new home. He is predeceased by his wife, Eleanor (Centonze) Spignesi. Their marriage of 55 years was filled with love, family, and lots of laughter. Leo was also predeceased by his sister, Mary Bacco; and brothers-in-law, Dr. John Centonze, Michael Centonze and Larry Cece. Family and friends may gather at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT on April 16th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by interment with military honors at St. John’s Cemetery in Darien, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Legion or the ASPCA. The family wishes to thank the staff of Vitas Healthcare, Naples, FL, for making his final days comfortable and peaceful. Also, thank you to his Whittenberg neighbors for continually looking out for him.
