Liberato “Leo” Socci, 80 passed away on December 26th surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 16, 1942 in Settefrati, Italy. He was the son of the late Ercole Socci and Maria Macari Socci. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathryn Sabia Socci. Mr. Socci was employed by Bartlett Tree Experts for 42 years and owned his own landscaping business before retiring in 2019.


Mr. Socci immigrated to America in 1957 from Settefrati, Italy and met his wife in Stamford, CT where they raised their three children. They also lived in West Palm Beach, Florida for some time before moving back to Stamford, CT where he enjoyed his family most. Mr. Socci was a family man who cherished every moment of life especially the times he spent surrounded by his children and grandchildren. His most recent pleasures were watching his grandchildren play sports. Everyone who knew him would call him “Pop or Mr. Socc ” and more notably you could find him driving his pick up truck waving hello to all with a White Owl cigar in his mouth. His traditions and memories will live on forever.


Along with his wife, he is survived by his children; James Sr. (Kim) , Liberato Jr. (Kryn) and his daughter Catherine Intrieri. He is survived by his brothers John Socci and his wife Loreta of New Canaan , CT , Antonio Socci and his wife Emilia and Jack Socci both from Stamford, CT and sister in law Marge Genise of Boca Raton, Florida. He is also survived by his grandchildren James Jr. (Michelle), Gianna and Anthony Socci , Devyn and Liberato Socci III, Brandon, Reid and Chase Parrott , MJ Intrieri and his great grandson James Socci III. He was predeceased by his brothers Pietro and Giusseppe Socci and his son in law James Thomas.


The Socci family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff on the 6th floor of Stamford Hospital, Constellation Health Services of Norwalk, CT and the wonderful nurses that were with Leo and his family at home.


Visitation will be held on Thursday December 29, 2022, from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Lacerenza Funeral Home 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on December 30, 2022, at 9am at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue in Stamford. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Stamford.
