Louis “Luigi” Procaccini, Jr. 87, of Darien, CT passed away on Feb.13, at his lake house in Oxford. He was born to Luigi Procaccini, Sr. and Carolina Russo on Oct. 11, 1933 in Darien, CT. He attended school in Darien, CT. Louis worked with various construction companies until eventually starting his own business, Louis Procaccini, Jr., Excavating Contractor. Louis and his wife Mary worked side-by-side running the business for over 55 years. Louis always kept his equipment pristine and was very meticulous at his job sites. Louis loved watching wrestling on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights, since forever!! Louis had a passion for woodworking and made several cupolas, tables and windmills for friends and family. Louis also worked with sheet metal making birds, lighthouses and painting them as well. Louis’s real passion was his garden! He grew lettuce, “cicoria” (dandelions) tomatoes, eggplants, fig trees, etc., and shared with everyone. Louis enjoyed his family time; cook outs, fun in the pool with his kids, as well as boating and fishing in years past. Louis and Mary met in the summer of 1951 and then married on May 21, 1954. Together they raised their 3 beloved children; Joseph, Debbie and Lisa. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in May 2019 with their family around them. Louis is survived by his loving daughters Debbie Procaccini-Glaser and her husband Dan, of Sandy Hook and Lisa Procaccini of Darien. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren: Niki Weeks and her husband Ryan; Amanda, Joseph and Jessica. Louis will be missed bunches by his loving little Shih Tzu "Max". We will miss Pop’s hugs, funny smirks, laughs and his jokes. Pop could be tough but he had the biggest heart. We want to thank Odette and Natasha (Comfort Keepers) for taking great care of our Dad. He truly loved being cared for by you both. Hugs!! He was predeceased in death by his wife, Mary-Lee Procaccini, his father Luigi Procaccini, Sr. his mother Carolina Russo Procaccini, his son, Joseph L. Procaccini and his 9 siblings; Joseph, Charles, Chris, Frank, Susan, Angelo, Sandra, Luciano and John.
