Lydia Mary Lupinacci, age 90, a resident of Old Greenwich, CT, passed away on December 24th, 2021 in Stamford, CT. Lydia was born on 10/4/1931 in Minturno, Italy and was the daughter of Thomas Tarantino and Concetta Pensiero Tarantino. She came to the U.S. as an infant and attended school in Stamford, CT. For most of her adult life, Lydia worked with her husband Anthony, as a receptionist at their Beauty Salon, La Jolie Femme, in Greenwich and Stamford, CT, while raising their family. Family was everything to Lydia. She was an exceptional cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and getting together for Sunday dinners with extended family. Her most memorable dinners were on Sunday afternoons with “The Rat Pack”. The Rat Pack consisted of core family members and friends who gathered for Sunday dinner each week and all were welcome. When her son Marc Anthony opened Lupinacci’s Deli in Cos Cob, Lydia worked with him in the kitchen for 5 years preparing her famous recipes. These recipes included meat balls and meat loaf, which were favorites at the deli. Lydia enjoyed weekly walks with friends at Tod’s Point and when she and her husband retired to Florida, she enjoyed walking the beautiful beaches of St. Petersburg and Fort Desoto Park. Lydia enjoyed traveling and exploring the world and cherished the memories of her many trips and she also enjoyed cruising with friends and family. Lydia is survived by her children and their spouses, Toni Ann Lupinacci-McClenny, (David), Cheryl VanVoorhies, (Richard), Marc Anthony Lupinacci, (Gretchen), Granddaughter Bianca, Granddaughter Devan Weber, (Matt) and 2 Great Grandchildren Kaelyn and Bryan. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lydia was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Anthony Lupinacci in 2006. She was also predeceased by her parents, sisters: Olga Spinelli and Ida Telesco, brother: Thomas Tarantino. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10am on Monday, January 10, 2022 at St. Catherine’s of Siena Church in Riverside, CT. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org. The family wishes to thank the many people who have reached out since her passing.
