Margaret Marie Rende

Margaret (Samela) Rende, age 102, of Bluffton, SC and former long-time resident of Stamford, CT passed away on July 18, 2023.

She was born on May 16, 1921, in Stamford to the late Dominick and Angelina (Santoro) Samela. She married Frank Joseph Rende on February 25, 1941. He preceded her in death on October 31, 2001. Margaret loved cooking, baking, gardening and crocheted many blankets for family and friends. Margaret lived in Stamford for 87 years. She spent the last 15 years living in Vero Beach, FL and Bluffton, SC.

Margaret is survived by four daughters; Annette Grippo of Milford, CT; Marjorie (Richard) Lutterman of Bluffton, SC; Patricia (Robert) Faubel of Vero Beach, FL; Carol (Kip) Jones of DuBois, PA; and one son Frank Rende Jr. of Vero Beach, FL. Margaret had nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings Lucy Rekos, Beatrice Santarsiero and Nicholas Samela.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, July 24, 2023, from 4:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Ave., Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Darien, CT.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Margaret’s memory be sent to Compassus, 10911 North Jacob Smart Blvd., Suite 1, Ridgeland, SC 29936 for the kindness and compassion shown to her and her family during the past 14 months.
