Margaret Marion Coppola Russo, 92, a long-life Stamford resident, passed away on Saturday, January 2nd, 2021. Born on April 2nd, 1928, in Stamford, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Theodore Coppola and Maria Mottola Coppola of San Mango Sul Calore, Italy. Margaret is survived by her loving children, including her two sons, Peter Jr. and his wife Sally of Shelton, Stephen and his wife Sheila of Norwalk, and her daughter Phyllis Russo Bonaddio and her husband, Frank, also of Norwalk. She is additionally survived by her seven loving grandchildren of whom she was extremely proud: Lindsey, Kelly, and Christy Russo; Maria, Frankie, and Anthony Bonaddio; and Nicole Russo. She is also survived by her sister Anna Coppola, her sister-in-law Mary Russo, her brother-in-law Joseph Zarrella and his wife, Elena. Additionally, she is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband of 69 years, Peter Russo Sr., her sister Jennie Coppola Zarrella, her sister Theresa Coppola Rotante, and her husband, Salvatore. She was also predeceased by her brothers/sisters-in-law: Carmine Coppola, Mike Russo, Angelo Russo, and his wife Lorraine, Eva Russo Elliott, and her husband George Elliott, Fred Russo, George Russo and his wife Joanne, and Frank Russo. Margaret attended Stamford Public Schools and was an exceptional employee at Kresge five and dime store in Stamford for several years until she started her family with her husband, Peter. Although health issues prevented Margaret from continuing to work, Margaret was proud to be a stay at home mom and to be involved in every aspect of her children and grandchildren's lives. Margaret was a devout Catholic and was a devoted member of St. Gabriel Parish in Stamford, CT. Margaret was known for her close relationship with Jesus. She could oftentimes be found reciting her favorite prayers, the Novena Prayer and the Serenity Prayer. Margaret loved cooking and baking. She was especially known for her cream puffs, jam cookies, and strawberry shortcake that she would love to share with friends and family. Margaret loved spending every last moment with her husband, children, and grandchildren traveling, attending sporting events, and big weekly Sunday pasta dinners. She also enjoyed getting together with her extended family for holidays and birthday parties. The family would like to thank her caregivers: Monika Szczypa, Jolanta Szypulska, Auriol Joseph, and Helen Bouzi, for their kindness and compassion when caring for Margaret. Margaret's funeral will be held on Friday, January 15th, at the Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Queen of Peace Cemetery, 124 Rock Rimmon Road, Stamford, following the mass.
