It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beautiful Maria Spadaro Violi, (88) loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She passed away peacefully at home on January 6, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born (1/1/36) and raised in Locri, (RC) Italy before moving to the United States in the 1950s. She met her husband, Benedetto Violi, the love of her life, was engaged and married within 3 months. Together they worked in pursuit of the American dream, creating a family and building a beautiful life together of 65 years having six daughters and one son. Maria was radiant, graceful, selfless, loving and a pillar of strength for her family. She will always be remembered for her love of gathering family and friends; her wisdom, advice, gift of telling life lesson stories; making incredibly delicious meals; giving strength, courage, unconditional love and support to her family, and doting on her 21 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Maria is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Benedetto Violi, who adored his beautiful wife from the moment he first laid eyes on her. They were each other’s soul mate and shared an extraordinary true love. Maria also leaves behind six daughters who cherished her. Carmela Violi, Tina Ceci (Michael Ceci), Dr Caterina Violi (Dr Richard Baranello), Dr Maria Violi (Anzelmo Graziosi, Esq. ), Lisa Violi, P.A. (John Salvin) and Antoinette Violi, Esq. (Dr Karl Roberts), 21 grandchildren Milo Ceci, Dr Francesca Ceci (Dr Alexander Gonzalez-Jacobo), Caterina and Lisa Ceci, Ben Ceci (Jessica), Maria, Michaela, Michael Jr and Louis Ceci, Raphael Baranello, Caroline, Antonio and Catherine Baranello, Nicola Graziosi , Rosa, Ben, Giuseppe and Luca Graziosi, Mia Salvin, Ben and George Roberts, 3 great grandchildren, her sister-in-law Maria Brancati Violi of Oppido Mamertina Italy as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless dear friends. One special niece in particular, Sofia Spadaro Sandolo, who shared her time, love and affection like a seventh daughter.

Maria was predeceased by her baby boy, Antonio Violi, her parents, Concetta and Giuseppe Spadaro, her 3 sisters Mafalda, Lucia and Rosa Spadaro of Locri RC Italy. Her beloved cousin Lucia Spadaro Iovino as well as her beloved brother Antonio Spadaro (Greenwich CT).

The family would like to extend sincere gratitude to Dr James Brunetti for his many years of exceptional care.

Calling hours will be held at Lacerenza Macari Family Funeral Home Wednesday January 10, 2024, from 4-8pm. Please join the family for the Mass of Catholic Burial at Sacred Heart Church 37 Schuyler Ave Stamford, CT on Thursday January 11, 2024, at 11:00am.
