Mario A Sparagna

Mario Sparagna of New Canaan, CT passed away on March 25, 2024, peacefully at home.

Mario was born in 1927 in Marina di Minturno Italy, the son of Carlo and Agata Sparagna. He loved family first and foremost, then it was gardening and playing Italian cards. He survived the war years in Italy to come to America to find love and fulfill the American Dream.

Mario was an entrepreneur and avid gardener. He was a special person, who worked hard, enjoyed eating his Italian food, making his wine and growing vegetables and figs.

Mario is survived by his children Carlo and Marialta Sparagna, Agata and Jon Aspinwall Jr., Florentine and Joe Orosz, and Louisa and Chris Leigh, His sister Pasqualina D’acunto, Sister-in-law Marianne Robushi and Brother-in-law Carmine Vaccaro. Grandchildren Katie and Peter Mason, Stephanie & Kwadzovi Ayenu, Jon, Marie, and Jake Aspinwall, Andrew and Stephen Orosz, and Mario, Nicole, and Allison Leigh. Great grandchildren Tyler, Genevieve, & Eli. Mario loved all his family still living in Italy his many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Mario was predeceased by the love of his life Marie and sister Angelina Riccardelli, brothers Anthony and John Sparagna.

The family would like to thank Dr Fusco and Lally Chambi and all the caregivers for their years of commitment to Mario’s health care.
