Mary B. Spinelli

Mary Spinelli, 98, died peacefully on September 9, 2024, in Stamford CT. Mary was born in Brooklyn NY on October 18, 1925, where she attended K-12 public schools. She was the daughter of Maurice and Margaret Scamerdella, originally from Procida, Italy.

Mary owned and operated Spinelli’s Jewelry Studio with her late, former husband, Vincent Spinelli for decades. A consummate saleswoman, Mary continued to work in jewelry sales at Saks 5th Avenue for several years after closing their business.

A life-long learner, Mary took classes in her spare time earning first an associate degree from Norwalk Community College and then a bachelor’s degree in general studies from the University of Connecticut in 1996.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in law Linda and Richard Valenzano of Stamford CT and her daughter Clarinda Spinelli of Medford, Massachusetts, granddaughters Gina Gomez and Mia Kinahan, and great-grandchildren, Jack and Riley Kinahan and Christopher and Matthew Gomez all of Stamford CT.

For those wishing to pay respects, Mary will lay in rest at Lacerenza Macari Family Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford CT on Thursday, September 12, 2024 between the hours of 11a.m. - 1 p.m. A private burial will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the donors’ favorite charity.
