Rudolph Cornelio, Sr. “Rudy”, age 94, a resident of South Salem, NY, passed away on June 29, 2024, at Norwalk Hospital.


Rudy was born on April 23, 1930, in Ashland, West Virginia, the son of the late Domenico and Mariangela Deluca Coniglio.


Rudy worked for Metro North Railroad in Stamford for 36 years. He loved working outdoors,

hunting, country music, and traveling with his wife and siblings, especially to family reunions in West Virginia. He was actively involved with the Fraternal Order of Eagles.


Rudy is survived by his spouse of 35 years, Jane Harper Cornelio, Children: Constance Betts, Donald Cornelio, Kenneth Cornelio, Christine Murphy, Carolyn Trench (Joseph Trench), Anthony Cornelio (Maryann Vitti Cornelio), Angela Leydon (Brenden Leydon), Steven Cornelio, Lisa Perry (Jeremy Perry), Laurie Cornelio, his sister Dorinda Traski (Steve Traski), 12 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren and MANY nieces and nephews and cousins in the U.S., Italy and Australia.


Rudy is predeceased by his first wife of 32 years, Rosalie DiLoreto Cornelio his son, Rudolph Cornelio, Jr. and brothers Patsy Camiglio, Bruno Cornelio, Felice Cornelio (Phil), Michele Colarusso (Michael).


Family and friends will be received on Friday, July 5th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Lacerenza Macari Family Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT. A Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 6th at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Ave., Stamford, CT. Burial will immediately follow at St. John Cemetery, 25 Camp Ave., Darien, CT.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
