Yolanda Sapia

Yolanda Sapia, also known by Chickie Sapia, age 73, a resident of Norwalk, CT passed away on Sunday, May 15th, 2022. She passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family. Yolanda was born on September 11th, 1948 in Stamford, CT, the daughter of the late Jerry and Grace (Lionetti) Boccuzzi. She graduated from Stamford Catholic High School in 1966. Yolanda worked in a variety of secretarial positions throughout her career for companies such as Pitney Bowes, Pepperidge Farm, and Poland Spring. She enjoyed watching her beloved Yankees and playing a variety of sports such as tennis and softball. Yolanda’s happiest moments were those spent with her husband and family, as well as babysitting her four beautiful grandsons. She was actively involved in St. Jerome’s Church in Norwalk, CT. Yolanda’s grace and spirit would instantly light up a room and her ability to connect was evident in her daily interactions with friends, family, and others fortunate enough to cross her path. Yolanda is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Sapia, her two children Michael Sapia (Erin), Jimmy Sapia (Jessica) and her four grandchildren whom she adored, Declan, Parker, Caden, and Liam Sapia. She is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Yolanda Sapia is predeceased by her siblings Ted Boccuzzi, Maryann Cornelio, and Linda DePreta. Yolanda’s calling hours will be on Thursday, May 19th, 2022 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Lacerenza Funeral Home, 8 Schuyler Avenue, Stamford, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 20th, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue in Stamford, CT. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Darien, CT. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lupus Foundation of America. The family wishes to thank Yolanda’s doctors, support staff, and caregivers for all their love and support.
