Yolette Jean-Pierre, born on August 24, 1956, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, at Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne, New York.

Yolette was the beloved daughter of the late Nerva Jean-Pierre and Genia Pierre-Paul. She was the third of five children in a close-knit and loving family. She received her primary and secondary education at Isidore Boisrond and Caroline Chauveau in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Dedicated to shaping young minds, she pursued a degree in education and became a French teacher, returning to her alma mater, Caroline Chauveau, where she taught until she became ill in June 2024.

A devout woman of faith, Yolette was a long-standing Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist Church of Port-au-Prince. Her spiritual devotion extended to her musical talents, as she was a gifted soprano and soloist in the church choir, under the direction of Maestro Moise Abraham. She was also a committed member of the “Group des Baptisés” within the same church community.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants.”

“She has fought a good fight, she has finished her course, and she has kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for her a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give her on that day.”

While her passing brings profound sorrow, we also celebrate the beautiful life Yolette lived and the enduring legacy she leaves behind. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Yolette is survived by her loving siblings, Isra Jean-Pierre Zephir, Michaelle Jean-Pierre, Gannel Jean-Pierre; her brother-in-law, Milou Zephir; her sister-in-law, Henrietta Isaac Jean-Pierre; her nieces, Nirva Zephir Tercy and husband Hethkenly Tercy; Agnes Mancusi and her husband John Mancusi; Marlise Pierre-Wright and family; her nephews, Gregory Jean-Pierre and family; Olivier Jean-Pierre and family, her grand-nieces, Kaily Jamison and Raine Jean-Pierre; Camille and Adele Pierre-Wright, her grand-nephew, Quessy Jean-Pierre; extended family members and many dear friends.
